White House and National Cathedral
There are many sites in Washington DC to visit as this is a spectacular city that is abundant in monuments and symbols of American History. Some Washington DC sites to see include the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Monument but one of the most visited monuments besides these is the White House. The White House has been a symbol of the American Presidency and America in general around the world for many years and is a beautiful sight to behold for many who see it. The White House has been around for more than 200 years but has gone through several renovations since the days that President Washington oversaw its construction as the cornerstone of the white house was put in place in the year 1792. Though there has been some renovation the house has survived two fires and the original stone that is part of its exterior is still in place.In addition to the White House there are many buildings that have a rich history behind their construction and are a sight to behold. The National Cathedral is a very historic building that has been in the makings since the days of the construction of the white house. The cathedral was completed in 1990 and is the sixth largest cathedral in the world. This particular cathedral is also the 2nd largest in the US and has over 200 stained glass windows with a multitude of wonderful artwork. The cathedral is also the site of the highest point in Washington DC.
