Washington Recreation

The District of Columbia is known as the home of the White House and Congress, but it's not all serious business, there is a lot to do for Washington Recreation. There is for example the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which produces and presents theater, dance, ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, and folk music, as well as multi-media performances for all ages. The Kennedy Center features the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington National Opera, and the Washington Ballet. Among the plays and musicals produced by the Center during the last 37 years are Annie, A Few Good Men, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The King and I, Titanic, and Les Misérables.

Washington DC is also renown for its sports teams and venues. DC has a representative in each major sports league, as well as in the soccer league. The Washington Redskins are a football team in the East Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League, and that plays in the FedExField in Landover, Maryland. Washington went without a baseball team for a while, until the Expos, originally from Montreal, moved to DC where they became the Nationals and play in the Nationals Park. The Washington Wizards, formerly known as the Bullets, are the city's professional basketball team, playing in the Verizon Center. In hockey there is the Capitals, home arena also the Verizon Center. Lastly, the DC United is the Major League Soccer team playing at the RFK Stadium.

However, there are several other professional sports teams in the city, such as the Washington Kastles in tennis and the Washington Mystics in the WNBA; and other sports are also practiced, like lacrosse, rugby union, rugby league, and running with two marathon races, the Marine Corps Marathon and the National Marathon in the fall and spring respectively.
