Birth Certificates

If you were born in Washington Township, certified copies of your birth certificate can be obtained in the Township Clerk's Office in person or by mail. There is a charge of $8.00 for each copy payable by cash, check, or money order. You will be required to fill out an application and submit proper I.D.

Death Certificates

Certified copies of death certificates for those who have passed away in Washington Township can be obtained in the Township Clerk's Office in person or by mail. There is a charge of $8.00 for each copy payable by cash, check, or money order. You will be required to fill out an application and submit proper I.D. Marriages

To apply for a Marriage License:

You must apply for a marriage license in Washington Township if:

You are getting married in State of New Jersey and the bride lives in Washington Township


OR


If you are getting married in the New Jersey, the bride lives out of state and the groom lives in Washington Township

OR


If neither the bride nor the groom live in New Jersey, but the marriage is taking place in Washington Township

You must schedule an appointment by calling (609) 259-7082 Ext 134. The following is required at time of application:

  1. One witness who is at least 18 years old

  2. Original birth certificates with a raised seal or valid passports

  3. Original divorce papers with a raised seal, if applicable

  4. Original death certificates for deceased spouses, if applicable

  5. Your social security numbers

  6. Name of the municipality in which you are getting married ( the physical location, not the mailing address)

  7. Date of the marriage

  8. Name and address of the person who is performing the ceremony

  9. Your mothers' maiden names (bride and groom)

  10. Place (State or Country) where your parents were born

There is a 72 hour State mandatory waiting period before you can pick up your completed application (including weekends). Licenses are valid for 30 days from time of pick-up. There is a $28 fee payable by cash, check or money order when license is picked up.

Note: Effective August, 1997, New Jersey no longer requires a blood test.

CERTIFIED COPIES OF MARRIAGE LICENSE'S
