Snow Removal Notice
PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING PROVISION IN THE TOWNSHIP ORDINANCE
132-9 SNOW - No person, firm or corporation shall dump or push snow onto a Township road that in any way causes or results in damage to the road or surface or to the traveling public or causes or results in the obstructing or delaying of the movement or flow of traffic.
132-10 VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES - Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Article shall be subject to a fine in an amount not exceeeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both, and each day that any of the provisions of this article shall be violated shall constitute a separate offense.

Recycling Pick-Up |
Collected every other Wednesday. This service is provided by the Mercer County Improvement Authority. Please call the Public Works Department on ext. 110 for delivery of recycling buckets. |
White Goods |
Appliances and/ or heavy metal items. These items must be scheduled for pick-up through the Public Works Dept. ext. 110. |
Brush and Branches |
Picked up the last full week of each month April through October only. They must be bundled with rope or string and placed at the curb in a pile no higher than 4 feet and no longer than 15 feet per property per given month. Branches cannot be any larger than 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet in length. Small twigs may be placed in open buckets or containers and placed near the pile of larger brush for removal.

Grass Clippings |
Picked up every Wednesday, Mid-April through mid-October only. Clippings must be placed in open bags or containers and out to the curb by 7am. Of course, we would like to see all residents recycle grass clippings by mulching them back into their lawns. This is an efficient and cost effective way to deal with keeping your property looking its best. Please be advised that there is a 50-pound weight limit for grass clipping bags. Bags weighing more than 50 pounds will not be picked up! |
Leaves |
Picked up during the months of November and December only. Please watch the local newspaper in October for a schedule.

Mulch |
Available to residents in the Spring of each year, usually in May. When picking up mulch you must bring identification showing that you are a Washington Township resident. For information on mulch availability, please call 259-7082 ext.110. |
Christmas Trees |
Christmas tree pick-up begins on the first working day after New Years. |
Pothole |
You may report potholes to Public Works by calling 259-7082 ext.110. |
Street Signs |
Broken or missing street signs should be reported to Public Works for replacement by calling 259-7082 ext.110. |
Dumping |
Township ordinance provides that it shall be unlawful to dump, deposit or leave substances on roads or lands. This includes, but is not limited to trash, grass clippings, hedge, bush or tree trimmings. Persons seen observing violators are urged to contact the Washington Township Police at 259-3900. If possible a description of the person(s) involved, their vehicle, any writings or license plate numbers should be noted. Violators are subject to a fine not exceeding $ 500.00 (five hundred dollars), or imprisonment in the county jail for (90) ninety days, or both. It should also be noted that person(s) dumping in township or private dumpsters and/or containers without authorization subject themselves to complaints for Theft of services, N.J.S. 2C:20-8. Violators are subject to a minimum fine of $500.00(five- hundred dollars), and restitution payment for costs incurred. |
