Emergency Services

All requests for emergency services should be made through the Washington Township Police Department. Some services that are not of an emergency in nature may be taken care of by making the call yourself. Some of the resources you can get in contact with directly are Division of youth & Family Services (800-792-8610), Crisis Intervention for Mercer County, located at Capital Health Care Systems Fuld Campus (394-6000).

Emergency sheltering can be established through Mercer County Social Services (989-4320) or by contacting the Washington Township Office of Emergency Management here at the Washington Township Police Department. Assistance may also be obtained through the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Weather Related Emergencies

During weather related emergencies, residents, are advised to listen to the National Weather Service, Weather Channel and Local TV and radio channels.

In severe weather conditions, a State of Emergency may be declared by either the Local Emergency Management Office here in Washington Township, or the Mercer County Office of Emergency Management or the State Office of Emergency Management. Information will be provided as to where travel is prohibited. During these weather related emergencies travel is restricted to essential vehicles only.

The local radio stations providing this information are: WBUD 1260, WHWH 1350, WKXW 101.5, WPST 97.5 as well as WNJO 94.5.

Television stations are the Weather Channel, New Jersey Stations 9, 12, 52, and Philadelphia TV stations 3, 6, 10.

Prepare a Disaster Supplies Kit

Assemble supplies you might need in an evacuation. Store them in an easy-to-carry container such as a backpack or duffle bag.

Include:

• A supply of water ( one gallon per person per day). Store water in sealed, unbreakable containers. Identify the storage date and replace every six months.
• A supply of non-perishable packaged or canned food and a non-electric can opener.
• A change of clothing, rain gear and sturdy shoes.
• Blankets or sleeping bags.
• A first aid kit and prescription mediations.
• An extra pair of glasses.
• A battery-powered radio, flashlight and plenty of extra batteries.
• Credit cards and cash.
• An extra set of car keys.
• A list of family physicians.
• A list of important family information; the style and serial of number of medical devices such as pacemakers.
• Special items for infants, elderly or disabled family members.
