Traffic Safety Unit
The traffic safety unit currently consists of 4 (four) full-time officers. Vehicles assigned to the traffic bureau are a marked four-wheel drive Ford Expedition, and a MPH speed monitor trailer which is used to remind drivers of their speed on all roads in the township.
The purpose and responsibilities of the traffic safety unit are as follows; to enforce all motor vehicle laws, to investigate all accidents and work towards reducing motor vehicle accidents. The traffic bureau also handles road closing permits and providing Quasi duty officers for directing traffic and other events. To apply for a road closing permit you must come to the police station and fill out an emergency services notification form one week prior to closing a road unless in an emergency situation, and then no less than 48 hours. The road closing form must be completed and submitted to the Chief who in turn will issue the permit. The paperwork can be picked up at the police station Monday ~ Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm.
